Questions & answers

Home care can feel complicated. We explain the difference between what may be possible, what must be verified and what has been fully approved.

Non-medical services at home

Is home care the same as home health care?

Taqwa Home Care provides non-medical help with daily living, such as personal care, meals, companionship and respite. Skilled home health care can include clinical services such as nursing or therapy. We do not provide skilled nursing or therapy. Tell us what help you need so we can explain whether our services fit.

Who can receive non-medical home care?

Depending on needs, program rules and authorization, person-centered support may be available for children and teens with disabilities, adults and older adults. Services may include personal care, daily-routine help, mobility support, companionship, supervision and respite.

Do you support children and youth with disabilities?

We welcome inquiries from parents and legal guardians. Approved support may include personal care, daily routines, companionship, supervision and family respite. A parent or legal guardian participates in assessment and service planning. Services depend on caregiver qualifications and clearances, agency capacity, payer rules and authorization.

Is this pediatric nursing, therapy or childcare?

No. Taqwa Home Care provides non-medical personal assistance and daily-living support. We do not provide pediatric nursing, skilled nursing, therapy, school services, daycare, babysitting or emergency care.

What personal-care tasks may be included?

Approved support may include bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, eating, walking, positioning and transfers. The exact tasks depend on the person’s age, care plan, authorization and caregiver competency.

Do you offer transportation, meal delivery or medicine delivery?

We may provide approved appointment accompaniment, meal preparation and medication reminders. Transportation, home-delivered meals and pharmacy delivery may be coordinated through authorized programs or properly approved partners. Availability must be confirmed.

Do you provide 24-hour care?

Call or text anytime to ask about care. Actual daytime, evening, overnight or continuous scheduling depends on the care plan, authorized hours and caregiver availability. We do not promise 24-hour staffing until it is confirmed.

Benefits, coverage & payment

Understanding possible pathways

Can you help me understand or apply for public benefits?

We can explain common care pathways, help organize questions and documents and—with permission—connect you with official resources such as COMPASS, a County Assistance Office, PA Link, an enrollment contact, your health plan or service coordinator. Government agencies and plans decide eligibility and approval; Taqwa Home Care cannot guarantee benefits.

Do you accept every insurance or MCO?

No agency should promise that without checking. Plans and provider networks change. We verify the member’s plan, network status, approved services, service codes, authorized hours and start date before care begins.

Can Medicaid or Community HealthChoices pay?

Payment may be possible through an approved Pennsylvania Medicaid pathway. Community HealthChoices generally serves eligible people age 21 and older. Children and younger people may have different Medical Assistance or waiver pathways. Eligibility, provider participation and authorization must be verified individually.

Does Medicare pay for this type of care?

Traditional Medicare generally does not cover ongoing non-medical personal care when that is the only service needed. Ask us to help identify the right questions for your Medicare plan, Medicaid pathway, long-term-care insurer or private-pay option.

Can I pay privately?

Private-pay care may be an option when availability and service needs are confirmed. Ask for the written service agreement, rates, minimum visit requirements, billing schedule and cancellation terms before care begins.

03

Family caregivers

Care by someone trusted

Can a parent, relative or friend become the caregiver?

Possibly. Some programs may allow an eligible parent, relative, friend or trusted person to provide approved care. The person’s age, program, relationship rules, care plan and payer determine what is allowed. Approval is not automatic.

What must an approved caregiver complete?

Requirements may include employment forms, identity and work-authorization verification, criminal-background checks, health screening, competency or training, payroll forms, EVV setup and ongoing compliance. ChildLine or other child-safety clearances may be required for assignments involving minors.

Can the caregiver choose any schedule?

The caregiver’s availability matters, but paid hours must match the authorized care plan and confirmed visit schedule. Extra time is not automatically billable or payable.

Will every client receive a caregiver who speaks the same language?

Support may be available in English, Bangla, Urdu and Hindi. Tell us your preferred language during intake. A specific bilingual caregiver depends on current availability, and qualified language assistance can be arranged when required.

04

Transfers

Changing providers

Can I transfer from another home-care agency?

You may ask your plan or service coordinator about choosing another qualified provider in the network. We can explain and organize the process after you give permission, but the plan controls approval and timing.

Will care continue without interruption?

That cannot be promised. A coordinated start depends on the current agency, the participant’s plan, authorization, provider network, caregiver onboarding and the approved effective date. Do not end current services until the new start is confirmed.

Is there a cash transfer bonus?

No. We do not offer money or gifts in exchange for a Medicaid participant’s choice of provider. Any lawful employee hiring or retention program would be separate from a participant’s provider decision and subject to written terms.

Starting care

The next step

What information should I have when I call?

Share the age group, ZIP code where care is needed, a short description of the help needed, preferred schedule and language, current plan or payer if known, and whether a trusted person wants to become the caregiver.

Do you serve Philadelphia, Delaware County and other Pennsylvania areas?

We are based in Upper Darby and focus on Philadelphia and Delaware Counties. We welcome calls from other Pennsylvania communities, but in-home service begins only after we verify the approved service area, caregiver availability, payer participation and authorization for the care ZIP.

Can intake begin by phone, video or at home?

Yes. A conversation can begin by phone or video. When needed and available, an in-home paperwork or planning appointment may be arranged. Required documents must be shared securely.

How quickly can care start?

Timing depends on service-area confirmation, eligibility, authorization, paperwork, caregiver screening and training, schedule availability and the approved effective date. We will distinguish a requested date from a confirmed start date.

Do you speak Bangla?

আমরা বাংলায় কথা বলি। English and Bangla support are available by phone, video or during intake. Ask about current Urdu and Hindi support. A specific bilingual caregiver depends on availability.
